Product’s Details:

  • Phzer (Ceftazidime + Avibactam Injection) is a broad-spectrum intravenous antibiotic combination reserved for severe and complicated bacterial infections. Ceftazidime, a third-generation cephalosporin, acts by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis, while Avibactam, a non-β-lactam β-lactamase inhibitor, protects ceftazidime from enzymatic degradation, extending its spectrum to resistant organisms. It is widely used for hospital-acquired infections, intra-abdominal infections, urinary tract infections, and pneumonia. The drug requires dose adjustments in patients with renal impairment and must be administered under strict medical supervision due to risks of hypersensitivity, neurotoxicity, and C. difficile-associated diarrhea.
  • Composition: Each vial contains 2 g ceftazidime (pentahydrate) and 0.5 g avibactam (sodium), which after reconstitution provides 167 mg ceftazidime and 41.8 mg avibactam per mL, with a total sodium content of 146 mg per vial (relevant for sodium-restricted patients).
  • Features & Benefits:
    • Effective against multidrug-resistant Gram-negative infections
    • Combines cephalosporin activity with β-lactamase inhibition for extended coverage
